Baxter Shavers, a 24-year-old Chief Deputy Sheriff from Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, tragically lost his life on April 14, 1978. On that fateful day, Shavers and County Detective George Brown were patrolling the area when they spotted a vehicle matching the description of one involved in a recent armed robbery.
