Tommy Richard Gober Jr., a 25-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on June 28, 1980, in DeKalb County, Georgia. Officer Gober, who had served with the DeKalb County Police Department for two and a half years, was responding to a burglary in progress on Aquamist Drive when he was fatally shot. His partner was also seriously wounded during the incident. The suspect, after shooting Officer Gober, fled the scene in Officer Gober's patrol car but was subsequently apprehended.
