On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1980, the community of Douglas, Georgia, was shaken by the brutal murders of a local couple. Ruby Washington, a 69-year-old woman, and her husband, J.L. Washington, also 69, were discovered in a wooded area, having been beaten, stabbed, and shot to death. The violent nature of their demise sent ripples of fear and disbelief through the small town.
