In the early morning hours of November 23, 2014, 30-year-old Tiffany Jackson-Pugh was shot and killed in her East Point, Georgia, home. The grim discovery was made after a home alarm was triggered. When police arrived, they found her in a guest room bed with gunshot wounds to her eye and chest. Tragically, her two-year-old son was found lying on her body, crying and trying to wake her.
The investigation into Tiffany's murder quickly focused on her husband, Andre Pugh, a popular Atlanta
disc jockey known as DJ Awesome. His behavior on the 911 call, in which he claimed to believe his wife had been murdered before he had even entered the house to see her, raised immediate suspicion. Surveillance footage from a neighbor's camera showed a black car, similar to one owned by Pugh's best friend, Adrian Harley, near the home around the time of the murder.
The investigation uncovered a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by Andre Pugh. Cell phone records and GPS data placed Harley at the scene of the crime. It was revealed that Pugh had hired Harley, who was the best man at their wedding, to kill his wife. Text messages between Pugh and Harley in the time leading up to the murder further implicated them in the conspiracy. Investigators believe the motive was rooted in the couple's financial troubles and marital strife, including Andre's infidelity.
In December 2014, both Andre Pugh and Adrian Harley were arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy. Pugh's trial began in September 2018, and he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In October 2022, Adrian Harley was also convicted for his role as the triggerman and received a life sentence.
