In the early hours of a Sunday morning in April 2015, a verbal dispute on a street in northwest Atlanta escalated into deadly violence, leaving two men dead. One of the men was identified as Lester Parham, a 55-year-old male. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block of North Avenue NW.
Responding to the scene, Atlanta police officers discovered Parham and another man, 27-year-old Emmanuel Stanton, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation led authorities to believe that the two men had been involved in an argument that tragically culminated in an exchange of gunfire.
Initial findings from the police suggested that Parham and Stanton shot and killed one another during the altercation. At the time of the initial reports, the investigation was still ongoing as detectives worked to piece together the precise sequence of events that led to the fatal shootout. No other suspects were immediately identified or sought in connection with the incident, with the initial belief being that the two deceased individuals were solely responsible for each other's deaths.
