On a Saturday night in Atlanta, on October 10, 2015, a violent encounter on Perkerson Road in the vicinity of Metropolitan and Cleveland Avenue turned fatal for 58-year-old Phillip Carter. That evening, at approximately 11 p.m., Carter and another man were the victims of a robbery that ended in gunfire. Both men were shot during the incident, and while the other victim survived his injuries, Carter tragically succumbed to his wounds.
Investigators believe at least three individuals were
involved in the robbery and homicide. According to the surviving victim's statement to the police, the assailants were two men and a woman. One of the male suspects was described as a young, short, and thin Black man who was dressed in all black, including a black skullcap. The other man was reportedly the driver of their getaway vehicle, a dark-colored Dodge Caravan believed to be a 90s model. The female suspect was said to have been in the back of the van. The shooter was believed to have been in the passenger seat of the van.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement reached out to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the individuals responsible for Phillip Carter's death. They circulated the description of the suspects and the vehicle, hoping that someone would come forward with information that could lead to an arrest. Despite these efforts, there have been no subsequent news reports indicating that any arrests have been made in the case. The investigation into the death of Phillip Carter remains unresolved.
