Rheba Mae Dent, an 87-year-old African American woman from Appling, Georgia, tragically lost her life on April 22, 2016. Rheba Mae Dent, along with four other individuals, was a victim of a mass shooting perpetrated by Wayne Anthony Hawes. The incident, which has since been referred to as "The Appling Five" mass murder, occurred following a domestic dispute between Hawes and his estranged wife, Angela Dent, who was related to Rheba Mae Dent.
