On July 28, 2016, Edel Cortes Mendoza, a 41-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot outside the La Taqueria Oaxaquena restaurant located on Marietta Road in Canton, GA. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Canton Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found Mendoza suffering from a serious gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
