In the winter of 2016, the life of 15-year-old Keyontae Jeremiah Ross was tragically cut short. An African American male, he was found deceased on the morning of December 29th in College Park, an Atlanta suburb. The grim discovery was made in the front yard of a house on Kristen Cove, about a mile from the apartment complex where he resided. Authorities reported that the teenager had been shot.
Keyontae, a student at North Clayton High School, had only recently moved to the area from
Stockbridge in September of that year. His family described him as a bit of a loner who was comfortable with his own company. On the evening of December 28th, he left his home around 7 p.m. and was not seen alive again by his family. Neighbors in the vicinity of where his body was later found reported hearing gunshots at approximately 10 p.m. that same night.
The investigation into the death of Keyontae Ross was taken up by the Clayton County Police Department. At the time, Major Joseph Woodall of the department emphasized the seriousness with which they were treating the case, particularly given the victim's young age, and expressed the community's deep concern. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the homicide.
To this day, the case of Keyontae Jeremiah Ross's death remains unsolved. There have been no suspects publicly identified or taken into custody for his murder. The absence of leads has left his family and the community without a sense of closure or justice for the young life that was lost. The authorities continue to keep the investigation open, holding out hope that new information will one day emerge to help them solve the case and hold the person or persons responsible for his death accountable.
