In the late hours of a Friday evening in Savannah, Georgia, the life of 25-year-old Desmond Lanier was tragically cut short. On May 5, 2017, Lanier, a male resident of the city, was fatally shot at the intersection of Georgia and Mississippi Avenues. The incident, which unfolded around 10:55 p.m., also resulted in the death of 23-year-old Clarence Fleming, making it a double homicide that shook the community.
