The young man, who was a rising junior at Towers High School, was fatally wounded in the attack. Two other adults in the home were also injured but survived.
At the time of the incident, relatives reported that the group had been inside playing video games when the shooting occurred.
The initial investigation by DeKalb County Police was met with challenges, as the victims were unable to provide a description of the vehicle from which the shots were fired. In the days following the shooting, family and friends gathered for a vigil to remember the teenager, with his aunt vowing that the person responsible would be found and held accountable. In what authorities believe was an act of retaliation, a man named Dedrick Davis was shot and killed at a Lucky Panda restaurant on South Hairston Road. Witnesses reported that the gunman entered the restaurant and declared, 'This is for my nephew,' before opening fire on the 21-year-old Davis. The alleged shooter was later identified as 33-year-old Travis Traion Minor, who was described in warrants as an uncle to Christopher Moore. During a preliminary hearing, a DeKalb County detective testified that it was understood Davis had been involved in the drive-by shooting that claimed Moore's life, although he had not been officially named as a suspect by police prior to his own death.
Travis Traion Minor was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of Dedrick Davis. While his arrest brought a resolution to one of the connected homicides, there have been no publicly announced arrests or identification of suspects directly involved in the drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of Christopher Moore. The investigation into his murder remains a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the community, a stark reminder of the devastating and far-reaching consequences of gun violence.
