In a quiet Albany, Georgia neighborhood, the evening of June 27, 2017, was shattered by a brutal home invasion that claimed the lives of three individuals, including 23-year-old Tyquis Devon Smith. An African American male, Smith was known affectionately by friends and family as 'Pressure Man' and was remembered for his involvement in his local church and his aspirations of playing professional football. His life, along with those of 26-year-old Adrianna Holmes and 25-year-old Demarquis Williams, was cut short by a hail of gunfire inside a residence on East Alberson Drive. The violent attack left a lasting scar on the community, particularly as two young children, aged one and four, were present in the home at the time of the killings, though they were physically unharmed.
The investigation into the triple homicide revealed a horrifying level of violence; the three victims were shot a total of 25 times. The aassailants were identified as Ticorey Frazier, Kareem Williams, Quadarrien Harvey, and Shon Mallory. Following an extensive investigation, the four men were apprehended and faced a litany of charges, including murder, home invasion, and aggravated assault. The subsequent three-week trial brought to light the ruthless nature of the crimes, culminating in guilty verdicts for all four defendants.
In December 2023, justice was served as the four convicted murderers were sentenced for their roles in the deaths of Smith, Holmes, and Williams. Dougherty Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Victoria Darrisaw handed down three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole to each of the men, in addition to extra years for other charges. The sentencing brought a close to a long and painful chapter for the victims' families and the Albany community, ensuring that the men responsible for the senseless act of violence would spend the remainder of their lives behind bars.
