On a Tuesday in April of 2018, the life of Rachel Ann Harrell Jordan, a 48-year-old resident of Tifton, Georgia, was tragically cut short in her home on Old Brookfield Road. Born on December 15, 1969, in Bartow, Florida, she had been a resident of Tifton for 47 years and was known as a homemaker of the Baptist faith who cherished her family and dogs.
The events of April 17, 2018, unfolded into a violent encounter when Rachel Jordan was shot multiple times. Law enforcement responded to a 911 call and discovered the grim scene. Jordan was rushed to Tift Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body was subsequently taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab in Macon for an autopsy.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect, 62-year-old Jack Lamar Price of Tifton. It is alleged that after shooting Jordan, Price turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt. Price survived the self-inflicted gunshot wound and was initially listed in critical condition at a hospital in Macon.
Following his release from the hospital, Jack Lamar Price was arrested and charged with the murder of Rachel Jordan on April 25, 2018. He was subsequently booked into the Tift County jail to await legal proceedings.
