In the quiet community of Port Wentworth, Georgia, a heartbreaking series of events unfolded on August 31, 2018, leading to the death of 29-year-old Timothy Maurice Williams, an African American male. The evening was shattered by a violent rampage that claimed two other lives in a devastating murder-suicide.
The tragedy began when 32-year-old Rocedric Eugene Thompson shot and killed 28-year-old Monique Williams. Following this, Thompson proceeded to a residence on South Coastal Highway. Inside the home, he fatally shot Timothy Williams and seriously wounded a juvenile female.
Port Wentworth police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were summoned to the scene at approximately 7:22 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered the injured juvenile on the front porch. A search of the residence revealed the bodies of both Timothy Williams and Rocedric Thompson. Investigators determined that Thompson had taken his own life after carrying out the attacks. Monique Williams was found deceased in a vehicle in the driveway.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted autopsies on all three deceased individuals. Their investigation concluded that Thompson was the sole perpetrator in the tragic events that transpired. As Thompson died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of Timothy and Monique Williams. The investigation is considered closed.
