Travis Jovan McDaniel, a 27-year-old Black male from Columbus, Georgia, died on February 1, 2019, after a shooting that turned a Friday night on 10th Street into a homicide scene. Contemporary local reporting said Columbus police were called to a residence in the 2300 block of 10th Street after reports that someone had been shot, and when officers arrived they found McDaniel dead from a gunshot wound.
