In the early hours of a Monday morning in southwest Atlanta, the life of 21-year-old Ralph Burras Jr., an African American male, was tragically cut short. On July 22, 2019, at the Hidden Village Apartments on Landrum Drive, an altercation involving several individuals escalated into deadly violence. Gunfire erupted, and Burras was struck multiple times. His body was discovered around 1:15 a.m., lying between cars in the parking lot.
Despite the prompt arrival of Atlanta police, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It was not immediately clear if Burras was a resident of the apartment complex, a location that had been plagued by multiple shootings in the preceding year.
The Atlanta Police Department initiated a homicide investigation, with early evidence suggesting the involvement of more than one shooter. Investigators recovered at least two firearms from the scene, reinforcing the theory of multiple assailants. While they were able to locate one witness, authorities believe there were others present who have yet to come forward. Despite the passage of time and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Ralph Burras Jr. The case remains open as the Atlanta Police Department continues to appeal to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough and provide a measure of closure for his grieving family.
