Daniel Arthur Price, a 40-year-old male from Inkster, Michigan, was tragically killed on August 6, 2019, while visiting relatives in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He had traveled to the Atlanta area with his mother to visit his sister and other family members. The unfortunate incident occurred when he stepped out of a family residence and was caught in the crossfire of what authorities have described as a domestic dispute.
The shooting, which took place around 9:15 p.m.
on Isle Royal Court, also claimed the lives of two other individuals, 28-year-old Lynisha Mitchell and 33-year-old Whitney Nolbert. According to police, 62-year-old Howard Jackson opened fire during an argument, killing Price, Mitchell, and Nolbert. Price's mother stated that her son had simply walked next door to speak with one of the women outside when the gunman began shooting. She lamented that her son was an innocent bystander caught in the violence. A neighbor reported hearing approximately 15 gunshots during the altercation.
After the shooting, the suspect, Howard Jackson, fled the scene. He drove to his own home, located about a mile away, where he then took his own life. Investigators determined that Jackson had a relationship with one of the female victims and had a prior criminal record, including a 2005 arrest for terroristic threats and battery. The case was ultimately classified as a triple murder-suicide, and with the suspect deceased, no arrests were made.
