In a tragic sequence of events on August 17, 2019, Kattie Marie Perez-Brown, a 31-year-old white female, was killed in her Dallas, Georgia, home. The incident, which unfolded on Holland Court in the Twelve Oaks Subdivision, has been identified by authorities as a murder-suicide. The perpetrator was her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, Christopher Woods of Ringgold, Georgia.
The evening's horror began to unfold at approximately 6:54 PM when a man visiting Perez-Brown called 911. He reported that Woods had entered the residence and pointed a gun at him, prompting him to flee the house and immediately contact the police. Shortly after his escape, the visitor heard several gunshots from within the home.
Paulding County Sheriff's deputies were the first to arrive at the scene but were unable to enter the secured residence. This necessitated the deployment of the SWAT team. Utilizing a robot to safely assess the situation inside, law enforcement discovered the bodies of Perez-Brown and Woods. An investigation determined that Perez-Brown had died from a gunshot wound, while Woods's fatal injury was self-inflicted. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office has classified the case as an open and active investigation and has encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward.
