Keith Sandefur, a 61-year-old retired police chief from Cairo, GA, passed away on December 19, 2019. Sandefur, who was a white male, had a long and distinguished career with the Cairo Police Department, serving for over 40 years, including 23 years as the chief of police. His death occurred at the city firing range on Wight Road, where he was found with a single gunshot wound. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was called in to investigate the incident.
