On July 18, 2020, the bodies of 35-year-old Ashley Smith, a white female from Peachtree City, and 36-year-old Darcell Goggins, a black male from Griffin, were discovered in an upstairs bedroom of a residence on Grandview Drive in Griffin, Georgia. The discovery was made after Griffin police officers responded to a welfare check request at approximately 2:05 p.m. Upon arrival, officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside the residence but were informed that the rear door was unlocked.
