On an autumn evening in Riverdale, Georgia, the grounds of Riverdale High School became the scene of a fatal shooting. On October 26, 2020, 28-year-old Eyton Lamar Edwards was shot and killed in the school's parking lot. Although the incident occurred on school property, authorities confirmed that neither Edwards nor the individuals involved were students or staff at the high school, and no one from the school was harmed.
