In the autumn of 2020, the life of 20-year-old Donavan Dearl Durham, a male from Stone Mountain, Georgia, was tragically cut short. On Friday, October 30, 2020, Durham was fatally shot in an act of gun violence. The incident that led to his untimely death was an armed robbery that occurred during what was supposed to be a weapons purchase.
According to the investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Durham was involved in a transaction to purchase a weapon when he was robbed of
his vehicle and cash. During the course of the robbery, he was shot and killed. The investigation into the murder led authorities to two suspects who were subsequently apprehended and charged in connection with the crime.
One of the suspects, Bishop Wilson, who was 20 years old at the time and a resident of Stone Mountain, turned himself in to the sheriff's office after a warrant was issued for his arrest. The second suspect, 17-year-old Chevaz Mekhi Barnes of Decatur, was later arrested in Lithonia. Both Wilson and Barnes are facing charges for their alleged roles in the armed robbery and murder of Donavan Durham. Following their arrests, they were both held in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
