In the predawn hours of a spring day in Macon, Georgia, the life of a young man was brought to a violent and tragic end. On April 15, 2021, 21-year-old Cameron Jay-Mon Ashley, a male resident of the Legacy at River Crossing Apartments, was found shot to death in the parking lot of the complex. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene on Wesleyan Drive at approximately 5 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Ashley unresponsive, having suffered from several gunshot wounds.
The investigation into Ashley's death led authorities to identify a person of interest. On May 10, 2021, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office announced they were seeking 20-year-old Micah Lester for questioning in connection with the homicide. At the time, Lester was also wanted on an unrelated active warrant for theft by receiving. His last known residence was reported as the North Ingle Apartments.
There have been no publicly available updates regarding any arrests or the identification of any other suspects in the shooting death of Cameron Ashley. The investigation into the young man's death continues.
