In the early morning hours of April 29, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet at a Circle K gas station on Zebulon Road in Macon, Georgia, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Twenty-three-year-old Brandon Washington was discovered by Bibb County sheriff's deputies lying on the pavement outside his vehicle, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate response from law enforcement, Washington was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to two individuals who were seen leaving the area in a white 1995 Dodge Ram work van. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office identified the two as persons of interest and sought the public's help in locating them. The individuals were soon identified as 19-year-old twin brothers, Divine and Divinity Taylor of Macon.
A significant development in the case came when the mother of the two suspects intervened. In a move described by a Deputy U.S. Marshal as the action of 'a good mother,' she persuaded her sons to surrender to authorities. On the morning of May 6, 2021, she drove Divine and Divinity Taylor to the sheriff's office in neighboring Jones County, where they were taken into custody without incident. The brothers were subsequently charged with the murder of Brandon Washington and were held without bond.
