In the late spring of 2021, a vibrant life was tragically cut short in Tucker, Georgia. Shamere Lakeisha 'ReRe' Moore, a 35-year-old female, was killed on May 22 at a Studio 6 motel on Crescent Centre Boulevard. The promising chef and loving mother of two sons was the victim of a brutal attack.
Authorities were called to the scene to find a crime of extreme violence. An investigation into the circumstances of her death was immediately launched by DeKalb County officials.
The ensuing investigation pointed to a single suspect who had been present with Moore at the motel.
Within weeks, a breakthrough was made in the case. On June 2, 2021, Gamontevis Leonard, a 34-year-old from Atlanta, was apprehended in Gwinnett County. He was taken into custody without incident by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit with the assistance of Gwinnett County police.
Leonard was subsequently charged with malice murder in connection with Moore's death. According to the arrest warrant, he is accused of fatally stabbing her in the chest and shooting her in the head. Following his arrest, he was booked into the DeKalb County jail to await his first court appearance.
