In the summer of 2021, the community of Waynesboro, Georgia, was unsettled by the violent death of 36-year-old Stephanie Gordon. On July 22nd, Gordon was found inside a residence on Wallace Street, having suffered two gunshot wounds, one to her head and another to her forearm. The grim discovery set off an investigation that quickly focused on her boyfriend, 33-year-old Bobby Jermaine Turner.
The initial hours of the investigation revealed a harrowing detail: Turner had reportedly
contacted Gordon's mother and confessed to the shooting, also threatening to take his own life. This admission propelled the search for Turner, who had fled the area in Gordon's 2012 Honda Accord. The search for Turner extended beyond state lines, and he was eventually located and apprehended in St. John's County, Florida, near St. Augustine. The victim's vehicle was also recovered at the time of his arrest.
Following his capture, Bobby Jermaine Turner was charged with a slate of serious offenses, including murder, theft by taking of an automobile, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. In addition to these charges in Georgia, he also faced charges in Florida for vehicle theft. The investigation into the circumstances that led to Stephanie Gordon's tragic death remained active as the legal process against Turner commenced.
