In the quiet community of Dry Branch, Georgia, a day of national remembrance, September 11, 2021, was shattered by a brutal crime that claimed the lives of a beloved couple. Fred White, a 70-year-old male, and his wife were discovered murdered, their deaths unraveling a story of a home invasion that spiraled into a double homicide. The couple, who were well-regarded in their community, had lived in Twiggs County for over two decades and were known for their kindness and generosity.

The grim discovery began when the couple's daughter, unable to reach her parents, went to their home and found it burglarized. A search of the surrounding area led to the heartbreaking discovery of the victims' bodies a short distance from their residence. Both had been fatally shot. The peaceful community was left in shock and fear as investigators began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to such a violent end for the couple. The initial investigation pointed to a targeted incident, offering little comfort to the grieving family and a community on edge.

The investigation into the double homicide soon led to the identification of two suspects: Charles 'Bobo' Rowland and his accomplice, Wayneaire Lester. It was revealed that Lester, a former employee of Fred White's construction company, had allegedly provided Rowland with information about the couple's home and belongings. The plan was for Rowland to burglarize the home while the couple was away. However, the plan took a deadly turn.

Subsequent investigations and court proceedings revealed a chilling sequence of events. Rowland, acting on the information provided by Lester, broke into the White's home. When the couple unexpectedly returned, Rowland confronted them, leading to their tragic deaths. In the days following the murders, law enforcement worked tirelessly, and through their investigation, they were able to link Rowland to the crime scene. He was arrested and charged with two counts of murder, burglary, and theft by taking. Wayneaire Lester was also apprehended and faced charges of murder and burglary for his role in planning the crime.

In a move that brought a semblance of closure to the grieving families, Charles Rowland pleaded guilty to the murders of Fred and Peggy White. He was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole. The case took an even darker turn when, after his conviction, Rowland confessed to a string of other murders, revealing himself to be a serial killer responsible for multiple deaths across Georgia. This startling admission brought to light the true extent of his violent history, a history that culminated in the senseless deaths of a couple in their own home on a quiet Georgia road.
