In the winter of 2022, a bright life was tragically cut short in Atlanta, Georgia. Six-month-old Grayson Matthew Fleming-Gray, a baby boy, was killed on January 24th, caught in the crossfire of a violent dispute that had nothing to do with him. He was secured in his car seat in his mother's vehicle on Anderson Avenue when a bullet from a drive-by shooting struck and killed him.
The incident sent shockwaves through the community, a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of gun violence.
The investigation into Grayson's death moved swiftly, and within days, two suspects were in custody. Dequasie Little, 22 years old at the time, was identified as the shooter and arrested. The driver of the vehicle from which the shots were fired, 22-year-old Sharice Ingram, turned herself in to the authorities. The motive behind the shooting was revealed to be a gang-related retaliation. Little was reportedly targeting his ex-girlfriend's car in response to a prior dispute when the errant bullet struck the vehicle carrying Grayson.
Both Dequasie Little and Sharice Ingram faced significant legal consequences for their roles in the infant's death. In March 2025, Dequasie Little pleaded guilty to murder and a gang charge, receiving a sentence of life in prison. Following this, in September 2025, Sharice Ingram also entered a guilty plea to charges of felony murder and aggravated assault as a party to the crime. For her involvement as the driver, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The resolution of the legal proceedings brought a measure of closure to a case that had deeply affected the city, though the senseless loss of a young life remains a profound tragedy.
