In the early hours of a July morning in Savannah, Georgia, the life of 18-year-old Mercedes Contreras was tragically cut short. Responding to a call around 12:30 a.m. on July 7, 2022, Savannah Police officers arrived at the 100 block of Shellbark Way to find Contreras suffering from gunshot wounds. She was immediately transported to Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
