In the summer of 2022, a tragic series of events unfolded in the small town of Rossville, Georgia, culminating in the death of 28-year-old Dakota Ryan Bradshaw. On the afternoon of August 1, 2022, the quiet of East Peachtree Street was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When Walker County Sheriff's deputies and Rossville Police Department officers arrived at Bradshaw's home, they found him inside, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Erlanger Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic departure, with a red truck and a blue Dodge Challenger speeding away from the residence. The investigation into Bradshaw's death quickly became a multi-agency effort, spanning across Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. Investigators learned that the incident was not a random act of violence, but rather a targeted effort to retrieve a stolen vehicle. The blue Dodge Challenger, which belonged to one of the suspects, had been taken and driven to a location near Bradshaw's home. Unbeknownst to the person who took the car, it was equipped with two Apple AirTags, which allowed the owners to track its exact location.
This technological trail led four individuals from Alabama to Rossville. Kavon 'Johntae' Collier, age 23, and his partner, Eric Dodds, age 23, both of Huntsville, Alabama, were social media influencers with a significant online following. They, along with Darious Devon Woods, age 26, of Chattanooga, and Deja Lissa Collins, traveled in a red pickup truck to confront the individual they believed had stolen the Challenger. When they arrived, multiple shots were fired into the mobile home. One of these bullets struck Bradshaw in the chest, ending his life. There was no evidence to suggest that Bradshaw was in any way connected to the stolen car or the individuals who had taken it.
The investigation, aided by over 70 search warrants and extensive analysis of social media and phone data, led to the identification and apprehension of all four suspects. Kavon Collier and Eric Dodds were arrested and charged with murder. In May 2023, a Walker County jury found both men guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, and other weapons charges. The following month, Eric Dodds was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years for a firearm charge. Kavon Collier received a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole, along with an additional five years for a firearm charge. Deja Lissa Collins pleaded guilty to her role in the murder. Darious Devon Woods, who was also wanted on a murder warrant in Clarksville, Tennessee, was the fourth suspect to be apprehended.
