On October 22, 2022, 15-year-old Benjamin Amarie Overton, an African American male, was fatally shot at an apartment complex in Port Wentworth, Georgia. The incident occurred early in the morning at the Wood Meadow Apartments on Coldbrook Station Circle. According to reports, officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired at around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Benjamin Amarie Overton lying on the ground near the 200 building.
