In the early morning hours of a summer Saturday in Baltimore, the life of 18-year-old Donyae Jones was tragically cut short. On June 22, 2013, gunshots erupted in the 700 block of N. Kenwood Ave. in the Madison-Eastend neighborhood, leaving a scene of chaos and bloodshed. Donyae, who lived on the same block, was struck in the chest by the gunfire that rang out at approximately 1:27 a.m.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to find a mass shooting had occurred.
Four other individuals, three women and one man, were also wounded in the attack. Donyae was transported to a nearby hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m. The other four victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
