Rufus Archibald Thrift, a Deputy Sheriff with the Baker County Sheriff's Office in Florida, met a tragic end on September 15, 1904. His death was a direct result of the long-standing Duncan-Altman Feud, a bitter conflict between two prominent families in Baker County that had persisted for over two decades.
