Shannon Ray Stephenson, a 28-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on June 15, 1980, in Gainesville, Florida. Officer Stephenson was serving with the Gainesville Police Department at the time of his death. The incident occurred when he responded to a disturbance call, which was later identified as a burglary.
