On July 19, 2021, Tyeric Simmons, a 23-year-old resident of Gainesville, Florida, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. The incident occurred outside the 8th Avenue Food Store on Gainesville's eastside. According to reports, an SUV drove up to the store around 10 p.m. and fired shots into a group of people standing outside.
