Patrolman Lee Anthony Crews, a 27-year-old officer with the Valdosta Police Department, tragically lost his life on January 24, 1984, during a confrontation with a burglary suspect. On that fateful night, Crews responded to a burglar alarm at a local restaurant on Ashley Street. Upon arrival, he observed a suspect fleeing the scene and pursued him into a nearby parking lot.
