David Lyons Jr., a 19-year-old senior and football player at South Sumter High School, tragically lost his life on April 20, 2020, in Wildwood, Florida. Lyons was involved in the New Covenant United Methodist Church Mentor Program in The Villages and was well-regarded in his community. On the day of his death, Lyons was shot near the intersection of Missouri Avenue and North Warfield Avenue.
