Detective Lonnie C. Miller Sr., a dedicated member of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life on May 6, 1995, at the age of 62. On that fateful day, Detective Miller was off duty when he responded to a burglary call at a store where he worked security. As he arrived at the scene, he was approached by a suspect who attempted to rob him. In the ensuing confrontation, Detective Miller was shot and killed.
