Harold Michael Altman, a 42-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on January 30, 2007, in Jackson County, Florida. Altman, who was serving as a deputy sheriff, was responding to a distress call from Mellie McDaniel, the wife of Jackson County Sheriff John McDaniel. Mellie McDaniel had reported being followed home from grocery shopping and was concerned for her safety.
