Derrick "Termite" Gloster, an 18-year-old Black male, was tragically killed in a mass shooting in Liberty City, Miami, on January 23, 2009. The incident occurred during a street corner dice game, where at least two gunmen opened fire, killing Derrick and 16-year-old Brandon Mills while wounding seven others. The attack was one of the deadliest mass shootings in Miami at the time, shaking the community and prompting rallies and vigils in the aftermath.
