Donta Harkins, a 30-year-old resident of Oakland, California, was fatally shot on June 26, 2015. The incident took place in the 3900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland, where Harkins was found with gunshot wounds. Despite emergency response efforts, he did not survive. Harkins' death was one of 83 homicides recorded in Oakland in 2015, a year that saw a significant number of violent incidents affecting various neighborhoods throughout the city.
