Justin Michael Holt, a 22-year-old white male from Boca Raton, FL, tragically died on December 1, 2013, due to an accidental shooting. The incident occurred at a friend's apartment in Boca Raton, where Holt was with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Erin Steele, and other friends. According to reports, the group was handling a firearm that belonged to one of their friends, Joshua Henry. They had been practicing dry firing the gun, which means pulling the trigger on an unloaded firearm to practice aiming and trigger control.

After the practice session, Henry reloaded the gun and placed it on a counter. Unaware that the gun was now loaded, Steele picked it up and pointed it at Holt, pulling the trigger. The gun discharged, and Holt was shot in the chest. Emergency services were called immediately, and Holt was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Boca Raton police investigated the incident and determined that it was a tragic accident. Steele was not charged with any crime, as both the police and Holt's family believed that the shooting was unintentional. Holt's family expressed compassion for Steele, acknowledging the emotional burden she would carry for the rest of her life. Holt's grandfather, Michael DiFiore, stated that they did not want Steele to face charges, emphasizing their understanding of the situation.

The case did not result in any arrests or litigations, as the authorities concluded that the shooting was accidental. The incident highlights the dangers of mishandling firearms and the importance of gun safety. Holt's death was a devastating loss for his family and friends, who remembered him as a loving and family-oriented individual.
