Juan Caban-Serrano, aged 39, tragically lost his life on August 8, 2014, in a violent incident at a horse farm in Wedgefield, Orlando, Florida. On that fateful evening, Caban-Serrano, along with his friend Edwin Vazquez and another man, Alexander Arana, were preparing to train a horse when three gunmen arrived at the scene. The assailants, who arrived in a black Kia Optima, executed a planned attack.
One of the gunmen held Vazquez at gunpoint, while the other two opened fire on Caban-Serrano and Arana. Caban-Serrano was shot multiple times in the chest and attempted to flee but succumbed to his injuries outside the barn. Arana was also shot multiple times and died at the scene. Vazquez, who was shot in the leg, survived the attack.

Jonathan Velez-Rosado, aged 27, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and armed robbery. Another suspect, Eduardo Galloso-Baragana, aged 45, was also indicted on first-degree murder charges and remains in custody awaiting trial. The authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the attack, but it was suggested that Arana might have been the primary target due to his involvement in drug-related activities.
The case has seen significant legal proceedings, with both Velez-Rosado and Galloso-Baragana facing serious charges. Velez-Rosado had a history of drug-related arrests, which further complicated the investigation. Despite the arrests, the investigation remains open, with law enforcement officials continuing to search for additional suspects involved in the heinous crime. The community remains shaken by the brutal nature of the attack, and the families of the victims continue to seek justice for their loved ones.
