Joewuan Coles, a 15-year-old African American freshman at Miami Northwestern High School, tragically lost his life on May 18, 2015, in a shooting incident in northwest Miami-Dade. Joewuan, who was not the intended target, was standing nearby when two unknown men armed with high-powered assault rifles opened fire on a group of four men aged 22, 23, 25, and 28.
The gunmen approached the group around 9:30 p.m. and began shooting, causing the men and Joewuan to run for cover. Unfortunately, Joewuan was caught in the crossfire and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the incident.
