Jose Luis Mendoza-Aguilar, a 48-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida, was tragically shot and killed on October 17, 2015. Known affectionately in his neighborhood as the "ice cream man" due to his business of selling ice cream and snacks, Mendoza-Aguilar was shot three times and succumbed to his injuries approximately five hours later. The incident occurred near Sixth Avenue East and 23rd Street, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds and facial lacerations.
