On the night of October 31, 2015, Tiffany C. James, a 35-year-old mother from Brandon, Florida, was tragically murdered. Tiffany had just returned home from trick-or-treating with her twin 7-year-old daughters when she was shot in front of them. The assailant, later identified as Darryl Williams, was wearing a mask of the character Jason from the horror movie "Friday the 13th."
The incident occurred around 11 p.m., and Tiffany was rushed to Tampa General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Darryl Williams, the father of Tiffany's children, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Witnesses reported seeing a person in a Halloween costume fleeing the scene and a silver sedan leaving the area quickly. Williams was apprehended at his workplace in Riverview nearly a month after the incident. During the investigation, it was revealed that Williams had a tumultuous relationship with Tiffany, and his actions on that fateful night were premeditated.
The case went to trial, and Williams was convicted of second-degree murder. His defense team attempted to present an alternative theory, suggesting that Williams's adult son and his new girlfriend were trying to frame him. However, the prosecution's star witness, Rosalind Washington, who was Williams's girlfriend at the time, testified against him. Williams was sentenced to 20 years in prison and is currently serving his sentence at the Jefferson Correctional Institution in Monticello, Florida, with a release date set for November 2035.
