Alicia Mahoney, a 26-year-old woman from East Manatee, FL, tragically lost her life on March 15, 2016, in a murder-suicide incident. Alicia, who was estranged from her husband, David Mahoney Jr., 32, was visiting his parents' home in the GreyHawk Landing community. The couple had been separated, and Alicia was living in Volusia County at the time. On the night of the incident, the couple met at a restaurant where they began arguing.
David left the restaurant and returned to his parents' home, while Alicia got a ride back to the same residence shortly after.
Upon her arrival, David greeted Alicia in the driveway, and the two walked into the garage where their argument continued. David retrieved a firearm from a vehicle in the driveway and fatally shot Alicia before turning the gun on himself. Alicia Mahoney, a young woman whose ethnicity was not specified in the reports, died at the scene. David's mother, Sharron Mahoney, 55, was also present during the incident and sustained two gunshot wounds to her right foot. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
