He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The vehicle's back windshield had been hit by at least ten bullets, indicating the severity of the attack.
The shooting also claimed the life of 18-year-old Dre'quan Burnett, who was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center but later succumbed to his injuries. A third individual in the car was also shot but survived and was reported to be in stable condition. The identity of this survivor has not been disclosed.
The investigation into Jemmelle Raymond's death revealed that the shooting might have been gang-related, as suggested by Major Ralph Suarez of the Miami Gardens Police Department. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and the shooter remains at large. Adding to the family's grief, Jemmelle's older brother, 18-year-old Tremmelle Raymond Jr., was also a victim of gun violence.
