In the late hours of a Monday night in February 2015, the vibrant energy of the Hot Spot Lounge in downtown Baltimore was shattered by a brutal act of violence. It was there that 25-year-old Leedell Brown, a Black man known in the local music scene as the rapper Mamu, was severely beaten.
