Jake Castillo, a 17-year-old from Lakeland, Florida, tragically lost his life on July 3, 2017, in a drive-by shooting. This incident occurred in the West Lakeland neighborhood, where neighbors initially mistook the gunshots for early Fourth of July fireworks. Jake had been paralyzed since 2011 due to a previous drive-by shooting that also claimed the life of his older brother, Juan Castillo.
